On 3 and 4 October 2026, our practice took part in the AOR 2026 Congress of the Association des Optométristes Romands. The event was held at the Hôtel Beaulac in Neuchâtel, and it was a special edition, as it celebrated the association’s 10th anniversary.
On Saturday, 3 October, the programme offered four workshops between 1:30 pm and 6:00 pm, and each participant could choose two of them. The topics were varied and very practical.
One workshop focused on supporting people with low vision, while another covered neuro-ophthalmology and orthoptics in everyday practice. A third addressed phorias, with essential measurements and management, and the last one offered an introduction to scleral lens fitting and handling.
Sybille Peguiron took part in this last workshop, which she led together with Sarah Ven, optometrist. The day then continued with an optional festive evening starting at 7:00 pm.
On Sunday, 4 October, the day began at 9:00 am with the Bachelor projects presented by FHNW students. After the break, two talks followed: one on vision in older adults, with person-centred care, and another presenting new perspectives in ultra-widefield OCT.
After lunch, several practical topics followed one another, including freeform scleral lenses with HOA correction, a post-op LASIK complication and comfort in low vision.
Dr David Tabibian spoke at 3:00 pm, after the coffee break, and presented the current management of corneal scars. The final presentation of the weekend was about the glass ocular prosthesis.
Two talks, one shared commitment: continuing education. The AOR 2026 Congress reminded us of it once again.
